COUPLES THERAPY INTENSIVES (VERMONT)

One or Two Days to Interrupt the Pattern and Reconnect

When your relationship is hurting, waiting a week between therapy sessions can feel impossible.

Maybe you're caught in the same painful arguments day after day. Communication has broken down. Trust feels fragile. Intimacy has faded. One or both of you may be wondering whether your relationship can survive.

In moments like these, many couples don't need more time. They need more support.

A Couples Intensive offers the opportunity to step away from daily responsibilities and devote focused, uninterrupted time to your relationship. Together, we'll slow down the cycle that keeps pulling you apart, uncover what's happening beneath the conflict, and begin creating a new experience of connection and safety.

The goal isn't simply to talk about your problems. It's to help you experience one another differently.

The most functional way to regulate difficult emotions in love relationships is to share them.

Why Choose an Intensive?

Weekly EFT couples therapy is powerful and transformative. Over time, I've seen couples completely shift longstanding patterns and build relationships that feel secure, loving, and deeply connected.

But meaningful change takes time.

Sometimes couples find themselves in a season of acute distress where waiting week after week feels unbearable. They need clarity, momentum, and hope now.

A Couples Intensive allows us to accomplish months of therapeutic work in a concentrated format. Rather than spending 75 minutes at a time rebuilding momentum each week, we have the space to fully immerse ourselves in understanding the negative cycle that keeps showing up between you.

Many couples leave feeling:

  • Greater understanding of their relationship dynamics

  • Relief from recurring conflict

  • Renewed hope and connection

  • Clearer insight into one another's needs and emotions

  • A roadmap for moving forward together

Why I Do This Work

After more than 25 years as a therapist, I've learned firsthand that not all couples therapy is created equal.

Relationship work can be messy, confusing, and deeply emotional. Without a clear framework, therapy can sometimes become a place where couples revisit the same painful conversations without creating meaningful change. To put it bluntly, it can become a sh*t-show.

That's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about Emotionally Focused Therapy. EFT provides a clear roadmap for understanding what is happening beneath the conflict while helping couples create new experiences of connection, safety, and trust.

My training in EFT is extensive, and my commitment to ongoing professional development remains a central part of my work. I've pursued advanced training, consultation, and continuing education well beyond standard requirements because I believe couples deserve care that is both deeply compassionate and grounded in approaches that truly work.

Intensive vs. Weekly Couples Therapy

Both formats can create meaningful change. The right choice depends on your needs, timeline, and level of urgency.

Weekly Therapy

75-90 minute sessions
Gradual progress over time
Time between sessions to practice
Ideal for ongoing growth and maintenance
Usually meets weekly

Couples Intensive

6-12 hours of focused support
Accelerated insight and momentum
Immersive experience with fewer interruptions
Ideal for couples feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or in crisis
One or two concentrated days

Neither approach is "better." Many couples benefit from a combination of both, using an intensive to create a breakthrough and ongoing therapy to support lasting change.

Before We Begin

  • We found Alexis through the Emotionally Focused Therapy network and feel incredibly lucky she was able to see us for a weekend-long intensive. As a couple, we came to therapy from very different places - I have been in talk therapy with various providers for over a decade and my husband had never been - but she made us both feel instantly at home in an equitable dynamic. This format was incredibly effective and came at a time when we were in a state of emotional crisis, having dealt with infertility, big career changes, and feeling at a crossroads after nearly 15 years together and 10 years of marriage. Through Alexis' guidance, we embraced the EFT model, explored our own personal patterns and shared dynamics, and were able to come back to each other when we were at a breaking point. It was one of the most valuable opportunities we've had to invest in our relationship. Alexis' teachings have given us a chance at a fresh chapter for our life together and we've benefited enormously from our work with her. It was absolutely worth the investment of time and money to engage in this work with her and we hope to continue with therapy in the future.
